designing album covers before we've even bought instruments

hey hey, it was great to speak to you both today - it would be really exciting to have a continuing dialogue with you both. At this (very) early stage it would be awesome to just think about it and contribute as a three piece, and once I feel we have something a little more concrete (or at least a little more thought through), then it would be great to get hold of Rich. I know he'd have wonderful contribution from the start, I'm just aware that I'd really love to have him involved as an artist in the project, that I want to ensure that the first time he hears about it it sounds thought through and interesting, and thus will be more likely to wish to be involved - does this make sense? Do I really need to worry about this yet, I only bloody thought of it about 4 days ago, I have the feeling of being in a band designing album covers before we've even bought instruments, let alone worked out how to play chords.

so...
  • I reckon 4 to 6 artists (who work with words) exhibiting work in a group show.
  • The show lasts 4 to 6 weeks, and every Saturday that the show is on one of the artists will present a bit of info about themselves and their work before taking questions.
  • The show, evening talks and the artists work in a more general sense, will be documented on a website and in a book.
a couple of possibilities (since it's all in my head anyway)...
  • Each artist could create a (small edition) print for the show.
  • After spending a month or so at one venue, the show moves to another venue.
things to consider now...
  • the artists
  • the venue
  • funded / not funded and the pros and cons of both
  • organised meticulously / falls together and the pros and cons of both
things to consider a bit later (and depending on the above)...
  • how does one go about approaching the artists / venue / possible funding options etc.
  • who does all this (as in how many people - us) and how (especially with jobs etc.)

Anyhow, surely this is enough to think about for now. Surely xxx

  1. That is definitely enough to think about, for sure. funny you should start off this multiple blog thing now 'cause we've just tried it with our class - that's 42 authors. Not quite sure how that will go but I reckon this notion of 'contribute as a three piece' (love that phrase) is a marvelous one. Great idea Matt and I don't doubt that you can make it happen. As I said, I've been waiting quite some years to hear you say something like this. It feels like one of those things that many paths have been walking towards for quite some time and they all find themselves resting at the same spot at the same time, stepping outside at the moment that the snow begins to fall from the sky and 1, 2, 3, 4.. the music starts
